Who was Cassandra?


  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. I have to say, I was a bit dismayed (with myself) when I read the first 8 or 10 comments, as I have read almost none of the books referenced. (But then, I'm a Canadian, so we have a different canon. Which is to say, we have no canon.) Then a few trickled in that I have read. But I will use that comment thread as a resource for building a reading list.
