Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.

Beth,
I'm sorry about your father. Is he having a surgery? He is a wise man, everybody knows and likes him. It makes more bearable during his stay at the hospital.

So beautifully written - I can completely see it all. I wonder what it feels like to relive this as you write it, and presumably re-experience your own nervous tension around your dad's hospital stay?

And the question mark that hovers over being alone in that house. Beth, you write so smoothly.
