Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.

Welcome home!

nothing beats a tasty homemade soup but I am longing for some Middle Eastern dishes right now!

Carrot and red lentil soup sounds delicious, Beth. Glad you made the trip safely.

I too crave vegetables when I get back from a trip. And I think it is a lot to do with the vegetable starvation that a trip entails [I find myself grabbing quick sandwiches in lieu of meals, especially in large cities with lots to do/see and lots of people to meet up with]. The red lentil soup...a perfect solution! I'll keep that in mind.

The photo and poem are lovely. Especially for sound and evocativeness.

T.
