Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.

Scrolling down, enjoying your photos, see the rocks with excitement - then your words! Thanks, Beth.

Love the two photos with the carved rocks! Do you know who the artist is? They're a bit like these:

The woman in red trousers was there solely for the purpose of being seen and captured by you. It was one of *those* moments!

Glad you liked them, Marja-Leena!

Jean, they really are similar, aren't they! I couldn't find an identifying tag anywhere because I wanted to know...do the Dulwich rocks have an artist attached to them?

Natalie - yes, that might be true! In any event, my camera was sleeping in my bag when I saw here -- I was lucky to get the shot just in time.

Tsk, I see the link in my blogpost is broken - that's the trouble with online resources. The Dulwich rocks are by Peter Randall-Page: http://dulwichonview.org.uk/2010/08/31/how-walking-the-dog-came-to-dulwich/
