Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.

It's amazing and wonderful that this park is basically right in the middle of the city. Or to be precise, on its edge.

Don't forget the Lachine Canal, which was opened in 1825 (more than 100 years before the Saint Lawrence Seaway), specifically to skirt the Lachine rapids. It helped turn Montreal into a major port city, by providing a way to move goods further up-river (and therefore inland).

I'm glad to see you out and about in nature----you've inspired me to do the same today!

Watched this first thing this morning. Wonderful way to start the day.

One of my favourite places tho I don't get there often. You really capture the contrast between the sheltered lushness on shore and the wild water a few feet away, thank you for this!

Dreamy! I loved this video.
