Congratulations, and bravo to both you & J! Your description of those Vietnamese sandwiches had me licking my chops...surely the chapter you finished is similarly tasty.

A well married writer is actually two writers. Amen.

Yummmm....I love bahn mi.

brava!!!

beth,
congratulations.

Beth: Keep up the good work! I can't wait for the finished product!

Yay, what an acheivement! But a book is a long stretch, and keeping it up through highs and lows over months and months must be extremely demanding. Glad you remember to cosset and appreciate yourself. I wonder if the freezing weather makes it harder, makes you want to curl up by the fire instead of expending ever more energy, or serves a useful purpose in jerking you wide awake every time you go out... a bit of both, I expect.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your moment of celebration.

Oh I love the photo. One of life's strange arrangements of temporary precariousness!

Glad for you that the writing is finding its way onto the page.

Hurrah! I too love the photograph. I'm not sure what it is that makes it quite so cold... I think it must be the matt and powdery quality of the snow which does it. Brrrr.

Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.
