Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.

I read and reread the article about the Christians visiting Guantanamo and just can't seem to get my head around it.... they were arrested for visiting and requesting entrance??? I mean, they didn't do anything disruptive or dangerous or suspicious, did they? Acchhh... Perhaps I'm just stupid to try to make sense of this...

Do you know that Montréal is also on a geographic hot spot and you could use a geothermal installation if you live in a ground floor building and have a garden?

You missed a similar story about Cubans: A trade delegation arranged to meet some Americans energy executives at a Sheraton hotel in Mexico city. The Cubans, and the meeting, were forced to leave the hotel when -- the organizers said -- the United States told Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., the hotel owner, that it would be violating the Cuba trade embargo if it dealt with the Cubans. The trade delegation said it couldn't get its money back, either. They resumed working at another hotel.
One could argue that we are none of us innocent, in a world that hates us, while we allow our government to be run by fools.
