Qarrtsiluni is now publishing the first contributions to its new theme, "Come Outside," and an exciting bunch they are! The guest editor this time around is the British poet Fiona Robyn and she has chosen some strong, edgy, creative takes on what it might mean to "come outside" - including some intriguing images.
Speaking of outside: tonight it's -13 C. in Montreal, and when I walked with J. to his evening French class, about half a mile from here, I quickly felt the warmth leaching out of my body as the blocks went by. People are happier though - we northerners are greatly discomfited by warm winter weather and somehow, even if it's an illusion, we feel better when there's snow on the ground and the air is cold enough to freeze the hair in our nostrils. That's if it's January, of course - by late March we want it to be warming up.
So come visit! Come outside with the authors at qarrtsiluni and see what it feels like, not just here but in many worlds, real and imagined...and if you're inspired, send your own best work to Fiona at qarrtsiluni at gmail dot com. She'll be considering contributions for at least four more weeks. Guidelines for contributors may be found here.
