I guess it takes a real writer to write such beautiful entries in a journal, and yes, you sound like Cassandra. Nine years ago isn't really that long ago in an adult's life. How wonderful that you spent so many winters in London, a place that I still hope to visit someday. I love all the colours in your description and envy the experience of seeing all these masterworks! And what a rich source of material to share here with us readers - thank you, Beth.

Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.
