Good grief, sounds like millions of geese, and maybe dogs!? Wonderful way to share, Beth, thank you. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Only geese, Marja-Leena! And they are us in reverse: Canadians who live almost all year in the U.S.!

You get Canada Geese, I get billions of tree frogs, though the fields are silent now. On some mornings you can still hear a few males squawking like hidden birds among the bushes... when I first came here I kept stilling myself to discover the stirrings of birds among the leaves, but never saw anything move, so the "birds" had me perusing my guidebook for information on what they could possibly be. It never occurred to me that frogs might still be calling in the middle of November!

What a symphony! What remarkable expression of the Universe for your pleasure. It's almost like magic. Thank you so much for giving me a taste of your world (what an awesome ability to share with us like this...).

That was a wonderful moment. Thanks for putting it up. I ran across a noisy flock like that on a walk to the park near my house, too.

Wow, that's fantastic! Thanks Beth...

Hi Beth, this comment is totally off thread for this post of yours, but I heard something while talking with a friend this evening that immediately made me think of you and thought you might be very interested in. Probably you already know all about it and i'm just repeating what you already know, but have you heard of the Red Letter Christians"? It seems to be a newly formed group of Christians who, basing their name on the practice, in the Bible, of printing in red all words directly spoken by Christ... basically meaning that they want to advocate Christ's words as they are, without distilled meanings... seek to find a new dialogue about what Christ's intentions were. I really can't go much deeper into all this, because I know very little about it, but in a post a little while back you were voicing doubts about the direction that your affiliation is taking. Might this be a step for you to look into?

Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.
