These are wonderful, Beth. I so admire and enjoy your writing. Happy New Year. May 2010 bring peace and prosperity to all.

I want to say that I still read your every post and enjoy them immensely. Happy New Year from Turkey.

I remember all of these. I was particularly fond of "Ghosts" and "How We Read" when they were posted as well as when I re-read them now. Beth, you have a gift for sharing little snippets of your life experience, and I look forward to reading each and every post. Happy New Year to you and to J. May it be a prosperous, happy, and fulfilling year.

It is wonderful to revisit these all together like this, Beth. Your writing always touches me deeply and has been part of my blog reads ever since I found you. Thank you for all of it. Wishing you and J a wonderful New Year with much joy, creativity and peace.

Indeed a fine selection, Beth, from so many of your fine posts. May they keep flowing from that bottomless well of creativity that you have access to. Happy 2010 to you and Jonathan.

Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.
