What a nice illustrated travel narrative! Such scenes! Makes me want to go to Iceland...

Don't you wonder what life is like for the people that live in this isolated place? I loved the info about your dinner at the gas station/cafe. Recently drove down the coast of Oregon and pulled into a little roadside cafe, probably built in the fifties. Best grilled cheese I've had in years.

Oh, love these--turf church, turf graves, the little houses dwarfed by stone giants.

Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.
