Lovely drawings Beth and that apartment looks enviably perfect. And that book in the anthropology museum! Absolutely fabulous - what is its name and are there other images of it?

Wonderful drawings, as usual, Beth! You do a have real talent for art and writing of course.

“ I feel art has something to do with the achievement of stillness in the midst of chaos. A stillness which characterizes prayers too, and the eye of the storm. I think that art has something to do with an arrest of attention in the midst of distraction.” Saul Bellow

As I age, a pleasant place to stay becomes ever more important, because we spend more time there. No longer satisfied with a utilitarian, clean-enough place that has a transient feeling. In an inviting space, enjoyment of the surroundings is part of the pleasure.

Sounds as if you may have found "your" apartment! (Though over the years we have found and lost some, as they are not always available.)

Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.
