Beth, this is so beautiful. It's funny - I loved the first image, I liked the second image, and when I saw that you were dissatisfied with the second one, I didn't see why. But then you explained, and now I look at it with more skilled eyes. Makes me realize how much there is for me to learn about where the eye naturally travels.

In any event -- thank you for this.

he top image is indeed marvellous, my favourite, completely satisfying in itself, needs nothing more.
I agree with what you wrote about the oil pastel one and of course with the dictum "simplify". I think that in this instance, the medium is overloading the message. But there are lovely parts in the two forground cypresses.
