Very recently a thirty-something couple (well-educated, world travellers, have visited us here) who live in Portland OR contacted me to ask "how to move to sweet Canada". My advice was to consult an immigration lawyer, because immigration is a complex matter and admission policies are subject to change. They said, "Immigration?!"

And I agree that in the moment, in the camera store, the main thing was to be available and listen. Very few Americans have an opportunity to talk with Americans who immigrated to Canada.

Who was Cassandra?

  • In the Iliad, she is described as the loveliest of the daughters of Priam (King of Troy), and gifted with prophecy. The god Apollo loved her, but she spurned him. As a punishment, he decreed that no one would ever believe her. So when she told her fellow Trojans that the Greeks were hiding inside the wooden horse...well, you know what happened.
